Vince Gilligan Reveals He Has a Plan for How Pluribus Will End... For Now.

The creative mastermind never anticipated that his new science-fiction series would turn into a cultural phenomenon. “I am so grateful to the audience,” he states. “It was unexpected the show being as widely discussed as it is, and it makes me overjoyed.”

Now that Season 1 of the hit series coming to an end—and a second season already in development—Gilligan and his team recently discussed the viewer reception and whether it will shape the narrative path of Pluribus.

Regarding the Tremendous Viewer Reception

One could easily to get swayed by the rampant praise and fan theories surrounding Pluribus. The creator is doing his best to avoid both.

“The experience is akin to constantly eating hot fudge sundaes and being in a state of bliss,” he describes. “It's the greatest thing, but I hear about it through word of mouth, and that's on purpose. I have never searched for my own name online, nor do I ever intend to. Not because I don't care. It's a bottomless pit I know I would get lost in and then I'd be living in squalor from the hardware store and I'd rarely emerge from my living room.”

In spite of his concerted efforts, there’s it's impossible to ignore the overwhelmingly positive response to the series. The only approach for the writers is to acknowledge it humbly and try not to let it alter the course of the show.

“We make no attempt to adjust our writing,” says co-executive producer Alison Tatlock. “The plot we develop is not changed by what people are saying.”

“Better to keep our noses to the grindstone,” Gilligan concludes.

A Pressing Query: Will the creator See the Finale of Pluribus?

So if the writers are not listening by fan response, does it imply they already know how Pluribus will finally conclude? Essentially yes… sort of.

“We have some potential directions about the ultimate destination,” Gilligan says. “however, we remain prepared to throw out a good idea for a better idea. That has held us in good stead on Better Call Saul and on Breaking Bad even before that. We throw stuff out when we find a more perfect path and I suspect we'll be doing that.”

Alternatively, if they hit a wall, director and writer Gordon Smith has a rather amusing idea to fall back on.

“I keep pitching that it's all in a snow globe, and that we'll reveal the snow globe and that's where they've been all along,” Smith jokes, “but nobody's taking me up on that.”

Alternatively, one could always use the classics?

“I'd love for Carol to awaken with Bob Newhart there,” Gilligan says with a smile.

Pluribus is streaming now on the streaming service.
