The Renowned Musician Encourages Backing to Get Palestinian Solidarity Song to UK Festive Top Spot.
A charity drive is aiming to send a cultural melody to the Christmas number one spot. The campaign aims to deliver assistance to Gaza's residents while also showcasing Palestinian cultural expression.
A Possibility for Solidarity and an "Unlikely Coup"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a moment to stand with Palestinians during the holidays. He noted the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he said. “I won't be completely disheartened if it doesn’t, Christmas singles are a category of their own.”
Powerful Theme of Self-Determination
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the version of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's defiant core message.
“The song holds a very special place for countless listeners,” Barghouti explained. “The message is that I would prefer a dignified death than live a life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we want to live a respectful existence that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Recording Origins and Contributing Musicians
The song was recorded following a major charity concert held in the autumn. First conceived to be captured during the live event, the rendition was omitted from the lengthy event due to time constraints.
The notable list of performers featured on Lullaby includes a group of acclaimed names from the music world. All took part in the benefit event, which managed to collect a considerable total for relief efforts.
Final Touches and Availability
Lullaby was crafted by a trio of producers and composers. The single features a combination of the heritage language with freshly written English words.
The organizers behind the project have emphasized that their goal is to raise as much as possible for a charitable pot. These resources will be channeled to Palestinian causes through an non-profit partner.
“We don’t have a fixed goal,” a figure explained. “We’ll go for the maximum achievable. Naturally, the higher the total, the greater the impact. All proceeds are directed out to Gaza.”
The reality in the territory was described as its extreme devastation, with a vast majority of buildings described as in ruins or severely impacted.
“In that context, a few million doesn’t make a massive dent. But I think the significant factor is above all raising awareness for this issue and demonstrating the human dimension of the story.”
The single 'Lullaby' is scheduled for release on Friday. Additionally, a video of the charity concert will be made ready to watch on a major video platform from later in the month.
