Football Analyst Chris Sutton Battles Singer Murs in Top Flight Forecasts

Arsenal's 10-game victorious run came to an end by the Black Cats before the global hiatus, but can the Premier League frontrunners recover against local foes Spurs this weekend?

"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," remarked football specialist Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still manage to win."

The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, versus artificial intelligence, readers and a range of special visitors.

In the twelfth round, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.

Murs' latest record, the new release, is available on Friday.

Football and Family Life

Olly is a skilled footballer as well as a accomplished artist and has been a featured player of multiple charity football matches down the years - but he is not planning a serious return as a footballer.

"{I recently played in a charity match the other night for a mate of mine," he said. "The side was trailing 3-1 when I was substituted in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you will!

"I continue to love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it seriously again.

"Additionally I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my child or son decides to play instead."

The singer and his wife his partner have a young family, their daughter and their son, and he is ready to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their manager.

"I won't push football on our kids but I've already told my wife that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be coaching their Saturday soccer side," he added.

"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I obviously was involved with a football club for a period too.

"My dad did it with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I get it from. He coached our team for two or three years and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Top Division Predictions

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues may have to be patient for their star's comeback from injury but their offense is already more potent with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.

I still think this fixture will be fairly close, however. Burnley are well organised and their sole home losses so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.

It smells of a one-all draw to me, but I am actually going to go with the London side to edge it for what would be their third league win in a row.

The expert's forecast: 1-2

Olly's prediction: The Blues will be superior. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have been defeated in their past two matches - albeit both of them were away - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.

In contrast, the Hammers secured back-to-back victories before the hiatus and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they do look strong again.

The Hammers' only away victory this campaign came at Forest in the summer, when West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo was still that team's manager.

Therefore, what exactly do I predict here - will it be West Ham continuing their streak under their manager, or Bournemouth bouncing back?

I am going to choose Bournemouth, because I believe what occurred against Villa was a anomaly.

The pundit's prediction: 2-0

The guest's outlook: The home team are doing well but the visitors have picked up under their boss. 2-2

AI's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were considered one of the frontrunners for relegation before the season began, but they have surprised a few people under their manager and are in good form with three in their past four games.

My son advised me to select Bees forward Igor Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I ignored the advice.

Thiago will likely score again on Saturday but I am still not going to pick him or support the away side at Brighton's ground.

They have not had great success on the road this term, and Brighton are always decent at their stadium. Brentford will try to attack on the counter-attack but I think Fabian Hurzeler's side pose much more of a threat.

The analyst's prediction: 2-1

Olly's prediction: This could be a match where you expect there is going to be a many goals but it in reality proves to be quite close. 1-1

AI's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a massive game for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their last six matches.

They have got plenty of quality in their team but it nonetheless feels like they could be dragged into a drop zone fight.

As for Sunderland, indeed they are the unexpected success of the top flight season so far.

The away side's performance in the two-all tie with the Gunners last time out was superb. We've not witnessed any other team disrupt the North London side like that this season, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.

The sensible thing to do to back the visitors here, because they are obviously able of roughing the hosts up too and, the last time they were in west London, they beat the Blues at the close of last month.

But I am not going to do that. Rather, I truly need to carry on going against Sunderland with my predictions. I am taking a lot of credit for their good outcomes because they evidently love to prove me wrong.

Considering the home side's at Craven Cottage record, the sole side they have lost to is the league leaders. Their manager's side will be absolutely desperate for a good result, so I am going to predict they will pick up three points.

The expert's forecast: 1-0

Olly's prediction: I'm aware the visitors are performing strongly and additionally that the hosts are on a poor streak... but Fulham have still been decent at home this campaign. 2-0

The algorithm's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a hard fixture to call. Liverpool have suffered seven of their past 10 games in every tournament, but might they be one of the teams who benefit from the {international break|
